Sally Jewell is one impressive woman. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1978 with a degree in mechanical engineering, and since then her career portfolio has grown incredibly diverse. She worked as a petroleum engineer for Mobil for three years before moving on to become a commercial banker and expert on energy and natural resources.
An outdoors enthusiast, Jewell appropriately served on the board of REI before becoming COO and eventually CEO. In the past, she’s also served as a member of the University of Washington Board of Regents and was a board member for Premera and the National Parks Conservation Association.
Today, Sally Jewell is serving as the 51st U.S. Secretary of the Interior under President Barack Obama. She is the second woman ever to take on the role.
