Watsi is a non-profit, crowdfunding platform where anyone around the world can donate money (as little as $5) to directly fund healthcare access and emergency medical care for people in need. It was founded after Peace Corp volunteer Chase Adam saw a woman in a poor Costa Rican town beg for money in order to help her ailing son. Today Watsi helps people in indigenous countries receive the medical care that is generally out of their reach.
100% of donations go to a Universal Fund, which allocates funds to help patients who turn to Watsi for help. Watsi pays for overhead costs through private donors, foundations and corporations, thus allowing them to use all donations strictly for medical procedures.
